Yuanji Zhao-Teddy, a graduate student in the Bhatnagar Lab, has been awarded the Dorothy Ross Graduate Student Research Award for his proposal titled, “Novel Female-Specific Mechanisms of Autism Spectrum Disorder Triggered by Environmental Exposures”. Congratulations!

His proposal will be funded by the MIND Institute’s Dorothy Ross Graduate Student Research Award. This fund honors the memory of Dorothy Ross, mother of Professor Len Abbeduto, and has been made possible through the generosity of Abbeduto and his wife, Terry McMenamin.

Congratulations to Brittany Greenwood (Simmons Lab, Microbiology) for receiving one of 16 accepted applications for DEB Research Award: ‘Plants, Insects and Microbes – ‘The Elucidation of a Pseudomonas mosselii Lipopeptide for Biological Control of Fusarium oxysporum”.

Congratulations Eva (Esteban Soto lab) on receiving the best student presentation award at the 46th ANNUAL EASTERN FISH HEALTH WORKSHOP presenting some of her work investigating “Role of Acipenserid herpesvirus 2 Infections on the Outcome of Streptococcus iniae Challenges in White Sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus)”.

In her current role as a graduate student researcher in the Marco Lab, Lei Wei examines the health benefits of fermented vegetables and lactic acid bacteria. Specifically, she is characterizing the mechanisms of how these bacteria and their bioactive metabolites produced during vegetable fermentation can exert health-promoting effects after consumption.
